Local 802 Public Relations and Political Director Kremen present. Kremen reported on various United States congressional races. Discussion held. Kremen presented recommendations for endorsements of numerous congressional candidates. Discussion held. Kremen excused. It was moved and seconded to endorse Tim Bishop for U.S. Representative for New York’s First Congressional District. Motion carried unanimously. Discussion held on process for endorsing candidates. It was moved and seconded to endorse Steve Israel for U.S. Representative for New York’s Third Congressional District. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to endorse Kathleen Rice for U.S. Representative for New York’s Fourth Congressional District. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to endorse Gregory Meeks for U.S. Representative for New York’s Fifth Congressional District. Discussion held. Motion carried. Hyde, Kruvand, Olcott, Schwartz opposed. President Gagliardi excused at 11:58 on union business. Financial Vice President Olcott assumed the chair. Olcott reported on various freelance orchestra negotiations. Olcott presented a request from the Orchestra of St. Luke’s to use public service scales for two concerts at the 92nd Street Y on December 1 and 2, including a rehearsal on November 30, three concerts at the 92nd Street Y on December 3, 4 and 5, including two rehearsals on November 30 and December 2 and a concert at Cary Hall at the DiMenna Center on December 17, including two rehearsals on December 16 and 17. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously. Discussion held on freelance orchestra negotiations.

Gagliardi present at 12:03. Gagliardi resumed the chair. Gagliardi presented a request from Local 802’s law firm, Cohen Weiss and Simon, for a raise in its retainer. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor announced that Magdalena Russell has been hired as Director of Organizing and Field Services. Discussion held.

O’Connor announced that the New York City Council would today on a resolution supporting pension benefits and other workplace improvements in the New York City jazz clubs through collective bargaining. O’Connor reported that Dr. Cornell West has endorsed the Justice For Jazz Artists campaign. O’Connor reported on Organizing Department matters, including plans to identify organizing targets in Local 802’s recently expanded jurisdiction in Connecticut and Sullivan County New York. Discussion held.

O’Connor presented a revised budget of $3,134.31 for musicians who participated in the People’s Climate March on September 21, funds to be donated to the Council for Living Music. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented 3 requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board member Schwartz presented a budget for Local 802 attendance at the Future of Music Coalition Conference on October 20. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve up to $2,700 for expenses for one staff member and two Local 802 members to attend the Future of Music Coalition Conference, reimbursement to be requested from the Coordinating Advisory Committee (CAC). Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor excused at 1:45 on union business. (Executive Board member Sharman taking minutes.) Local 802 Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo presented July financials. Discussion held. Camiolo excused.

Assistant to the President Bond presented a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with five off-Broadway Theater Employers: Second Stage Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Atlantic Theater Company, New York Shakespeare Festival, New York Theatre Workshop. Discussion held.

Executive Board member Cranshaw excused at 2:00 on union business. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA with the five above theaters. Motion carried unanimously.

Burridge excused at 2:12. Discussion held on Local 802 Musicians Health Fund issues.

Meeting called to order at 11:08 a.m. by Recording Vice President O’Connor. Present: O’Connor, Executive Board members Brandford, Burridge, Cutler, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Schwartz, Sharman, Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent on union business.

Minutes from October 7, 2014 reviewed. Executive Board member Cranshaw present at 11:08. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from October 7, 2014 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

Local 802 Director of Organizing and Field Services Maggie Russell present. Discussion on organizing held. Russell excused.

Recording Vice President O’Connor announced that the dates for Local 802 membership meetings in 2015 are February 18, June 10 and October 14. O’Connor announced that the date for the 2014 Local 802 holiday party is December 17. Discussion held on the holiday party. Discussion held on agendas and attendance at Local 802 membership meetings.

President Gagliardi present by speaker phone. Gagliardi presented a proposal to raise the retainer fee of Local 802’s law firm, Cohen, Weiss and Simon from $11,025 per month to $15,000 per month. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to raise the retainer to $15,000 beginning November 1. Motion carried unanimously. Conference call with Gagliardi ended.

Electronic Media Services Department Representative Sheldon present. Sheldon presented a Limited Pressing Agreement (LPA) with Pageant Musical, LLC for the production of “Pageant.” Discussion held. Sheldon excused. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the LPA with Pageant Musical. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor requested a donation of $4,006.87 to the Council for Living Music to pay musicians for their work with the Justice for Jazz Artists campaign. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to make the donation to be paid from the public relations budget. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented a request from the Local 802 Senior Musicians Association to use public service scales for two rehearsals on November 12 and 14 for an MPTF concert at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall on November 16. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented 2 requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Motion carried unanimously.

Local 802 Political and Public Relations Director Kremen present. Kremen presented an invitation to a fundraiser for New York Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal. Discussion held. Kremen excused. Executive Board member Cutler excused at 1:00. It was moved and seconded to purchase up to two $250 tickets to the Rosenthal fundraiser. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a request from the Bronx Arts Ensemble to use public service scales for a rehearsal and a concert on October 23 at Fordham University in the Bronx. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott requested annual salary adjustments for three Local 802 non-bargaining unit employees. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the adjustments. Motion carried unanimously.
