TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2015

Meeting called to order at 11:06 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Olcott, Recording Vice President O’Connor, Executive Board members Brandford, Burridge, Cranshaw, Cutler, Dougherty, Kruvand, Schwartz, Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent on union business.

Minutes from January 6, 2015 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from January 6, 2015 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on Theatrical Motion Picture and Television Film negotiations and a tentative agreement reached. Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a request from the Bronx Arts Ensemble to use public service scales for a rehearsal and two educational performances on January 15. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously. Olcott presented a request from the Long Island Philharmonic to use public service scales for one rehearsal on January 12 and two educational concerts on January 13. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously. Olcott presented a request from the Westchester Philharmonic to use public service scales for a rehearsal and an educational concert on February 10. It was moved and seconded to grant the request.

Discussion held on single engagement concert scales.

O’Connor reported on the filming of music at the Winter Jazz Festival for French television under the Television Videotape Agreement. Discussion held.

Local 802 Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo presented October 2014 financials. Executive Board member Burridge excused at 12:21. Discussion held. Camiolo excused.

Discussion held on the New York City Opera.

Jazz Representative Weeks present. Weeks presented a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) for the Monday Night Jazz Jam Session. Discussion held. Weeks excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the CBA with the JFA. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented a request for a donation to Feel the Music! It was moved and seconded to donate $250 to Feel the Music! Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Local 802 Concert Representative Fisher present. Fisher presented a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Gotham Chamber Orchestra. Discussion held. Fisher excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA with Gotham Chamber Orchestra. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented four requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion held on the location of the 2016 AFM convention.

Discussion held on The Temptations and the Four Tops.

Minutes from January 13, 2015 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from January 13, 2015 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported on Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on New York City Opera matters. Gagliardi reported on Theatrical Motion Picture and Television Film negotiations and a tentative agreement reached. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on his attendance at an AFM-EPF Investment Committee meeting. Discussion held. Discussion held on the recent changes in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) rules. President Gagliardi presented a request from the producers of “Chicago” for a waiver of Article IV, A, 1 of the Local 802/Broadway League Agreement. Discussion held.

Executive Board member Burridge reported on “If/Then” matters. Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on Westchester Philharmonic matters. Olcott reported on New York Pops negotiations. Olcott reported on a New York Youth Symphony panel held on January 18. Olcott reported on the live music and dance initiative.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on negotiations with the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. Discussion held. O’Connor reported on a scheduled meeting with the Rainbow Room management. Discussion held.

Electronic Media Services Department Representative Sheldon present. Sheldon presented a request from PS Classics to use the Off Broadway Limited Pressing Agreement. Discussion held. Sheldon excused.

Executive Board member Sharman presented recommendations from the Membership Meeting Subcommittee. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on 2016 AFM Convention matters.

O’Connor presented a request for a leave of absence from a Broadway musician. It was moved and seconded to approve the leave of absence. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board member Schwartz reported on a $25,000 donation made to the Emergency Relief Fund. Discussion held.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2015

Meeting called to order at 11:05 a.m. Present: President Gagliardi, Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President O’Connor, Executive Board members Brandford, Cranshaw, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Schwartz, Sharman.

Minutes from January 20, 2015 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from January 20, 2015 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved and seconded to appoint Tony Gorruso to the Trial Board. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi presented an invoice for Local 802’s share of the Metropolitan Opera’s independent financial analyst for $12,500 for the analyst’s work during the contract negotiations between Local 802 and the Metropolitan Opera last year. Executive Board member Burridge present at 11:10. It was moved and seconded to pay the invoice. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Radio City matters discussed.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a request from the Long Island Philharmonic to use public service scale for an educational concert on February 2 and an educational concert on June 6. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion held on the criteria for performances eligible for public service scales.

Olcott reported on Queens Symphony personnel matters. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on successful efforts last week to bring a Billy Porter performance at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook under contract. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on matters having to do with payment of musicians for filming of music at the 2015 Winter Jazz Festival for French television under the AFM Television Videotape Agreement. Discussion held.

Executive Board member Hyde presented a budget for refreshments for the February 2015 membership meeting. It was moved and seconded to approve the budget. Motion carried unanimously.
