Volume 116, No. 4April, 2016

Leon Russianoff (1916-1990) was one of the top clarinet instructors in the world and the teacher of Stanley Drucker, among many others. He taught at Juilliard, the Manhattan School of Music, Queens College and the 92nd Street Y. He was a member of Local 802 for over 50 years. On Valentine’s Day, some of Mr. Russianoff’s former students offered a set of tribute concerts in his memory, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. The performances were organized by Alan Kay, David Krakauer and Charles Neidich. Allegro photographer Walter Karling was granted access to the shows and took the photos here.
