TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:07 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Cranshaw, Dougherty, Hyde, Sharman, Suttmann, Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent. Minutes from May 10, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from May 10, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Assistant to the President Bond reported on the conclusion of negotiations between Local 802 and The Broadway League for a successor agreement. Bond distributed a list of Theatre Committee members to be reimbursed for lost work during the negotiations with The Broadway League. It was moved and seconded to approve the reimbursement of wages to Theatre Committee members for lost work. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Bond announced the first meeting with members of the Radio City Music Hall orchestra prior to the commencement of negotiations for a successor agreement. Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on various Concert Department negotiations involving Orchestra of St. Luke’s, American Ballet Theatre and American Symphony Orchestra. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on a matter pertaining to an officer of the Trial Board. Discussion held. Schwartz reported on negotiations between Local 802 and Jazz at Lincoln Center for a successor agreement. Discussion held. Schwartz presented a request from a member for a leave of absence from a Broadway show. It was moved and seconded to approve the leave of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Carroll reported that Keith Wright will be visiting Local 802 on Friday May 20, 2016 to speak about his candidacy to represent New York’s 13th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Discussion held. Carroll reported on a rally to be held at City Hall to support additional allocations to the city’s cultural arts budget, scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2016. Discussion held. Carroll reported on issues relating to the membership meeting scheduled for June 8, 2016. Discussion held. Carroll excused.

Director of Organizing and Field Services Russell-Brown and Senior Business Rep Gasteyer present. Russell-Brown and Gasteyer reported on the progress of negotiations between Local 802 and Avatar Recording Studios on behalf of the studio assistants, and requested approval for a strike authorization vote by the bargaining unit. Russell-Brown and Gasteyer excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the request for a strike authorization vote. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Schwartz reported on the second meeting of the Local 802 Music Technology Roundtable on May 10, 2016. Discussion held. Schwartz reported on his meeting with the Saturday Night Live band at NBC Studios along with President Gagliardi, AFM Director of Electronic Media Services Varriale, and Senior Business Rep Pawlo on May 14, 2016. Discussion held.

Bond reported on an issue pertaining to a leave of absence from an Off Broadway show. It was moved and seconded to permit a member to perform as a substitute on an Off Broadway show from which member had taken a leave. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

TUESDAY, MAY 31, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:05 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Cranshaw, Cutler, Dougherty, Kruvand, Sharman, Suttmann, Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent. Minutes from May 17, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from May 17, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on contract negotiations between Local 802 and the American Symphony Orchestra. Discussion held. Olcott reported on a meeting between Local 802 officers and Keith Wright, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 13th Congressional District of New York. Discussion held.
Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on the negotiations between Local 802 and Avatar Studios.

President Gagliardi present at 11:24 via conference call. Gagliardi presented a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Local 802 and the New York Philharmonic. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA for ratification by the bargaining unit. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi reported that terms for a Memorandum of Agreement had been reached between Local 802 and The Broadway League. Discussion held.

Assistant to the President Bond presented a request for the promotion of a Theatre Department staff member to the position of Senior Business Rep. Gagliardi excused at 11:35. Gagliardi rejoined the meeting via conference call at 11:37. Gagliardi announced a presentation to the membership by the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Fund, scheduled for June 1, 2016 in the Local 802 Clubroom. Executive Board member Hyde present at 11:40. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on matters pertaining to Local 802 Delegates to the 100th Convention of the American Federation of Musicians. Discussion held. Gagliardi excused at 11:43.

It was moved and seconded to approve the promotion of a Theatre Department staff member to the position of Senior Business Rep, and that such promotion will be retroactive to May 23, 2016. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.
Theatre Business Rep Blum present. Blum presented an agreement between Local 802 and AMAS Musical Theatre, Inc. Blum presented a Letter of Agreement for Music Services between Local 802 and Player to be Named Later, c/o Bespoke Theatricals for the production of “Bull Durham.” Executive Board member Cranshaw excused at 12:01. Bond and Blum responded to questions pertaining to the terms and conditions of Local 802 Letters of Agreement for Music Services. Blum excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the agreement between Local 802 and AMAS Theatricals, Inc. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to approve the Letter of Agreement for Music Services between Local 802 and Player to be Named Later, c/o Bespoke Theatricals for the production of “Bull Durham.” Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

NYC Central Labor Council (CLC) representative Moschel present. Moschel reported on his attendance at the meeting of the CLC on May 19, 2016. Moschel announced a meeting of the Labor Day Parade Coordinators, scheduled for June 16, 2016. Moschel reported on the resolution of a strike by members of the Communications Workers of America against Verizon. Moschel reported on problems of domestic violence occurring in the workplace and the proposed legislation by the CLC to address those issues. Moschel reported on the Union Plus benefits program and the home financing services offered by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage through that program. Moschel excused.

Board recessed at 12:31. Board reconvened at 12:37. Bond presented a revised total budget of $7,800 for the Theatre Festival initiative of 2016 that added $625 to the budget previously approved by the Executive Board on April 19, 2016. It was moved and seconded to approve the revised budget for the Theatre Festival initiative. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Schwartz reported on the response to a Cornell University survey of Local 802 officers and staff on issues of workplace harassment. Discussion held.

Communications and Political Director Carroll present. Carroll reported on the meeting of Local 802 officers and candidate Keith Wright. Discussion held. Carroll reported on the campaign of Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the 12th District of New York. Discussion held. Carroll reported on a fundraising event for New York State Senator Brad Hoylman, representing Manhattan District 27, scheduled for June 9, 2016 and proposed that a contribution be made to that re-election campaign. Carroll reported on a press event pertaining to the New York is Music initiative scheduled for June 7, 2016 in Albany and updated the board on the status of the proposed music tax credit legislation. Carroll discussed matters pertaining to the Local 802 membership meeting scheduled for June 8, 2016. Carroll excused. It was moved and seconded to contribute $250 to the campaign of Brad Hoylman. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to endorse the candidacy of Brad Hoylman for re-election to the NYS Senate from Manhattan District 27. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to endorse the re-election of Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney to the U.S. House of Representatives. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive session called at 2:00. Executive session ended at 2:28. Schwartz presented requests from five members for leaves of absence from Broadway shows. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Meeting called to order at 11:38am by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Executive Board members Burridge, Cutler, Dougherty, Hyde, Sharman, Suttmann. Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent on union business. Sharman taking minutes. Minutes from May 31, 2016 reviewed. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from May 31, 2016 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion held on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) proposals between Local 802 and the Broadway League. Discussion held on other Broadway theatre issues.

Communications and Political Director Carroll present via conference call. Carroll requested approval from the Executive Board to pay an additional hour of wages, due to unavoidable event delays, to local Albany musicians hired to perform for a press event on June 7, 2016 in support of the proposed music production tax credit legislation. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve payment of an additional hour of wages to the musicians hired for the music production tax credit legislation press event in Albany, to be reimbursed in part by the event lobbying firm. Motion carried unanimously. Carroll excused 12:10.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on various negotiations between Local 802 and American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Olcott requested annual anniversary wage increases for two non-bargaining unit employees. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the annual anniversary wage increases. Motion carried unanimously. Olcott reported on the negotiations between Local 802 and Avatar Studios. Discussion held.

Local 802 Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo presented March 2016 financials. Discussion held. Camiolo excused.

Carroll present via conference call. Carroll proposed that Local 802 endorse the candidacy of Keith Wright for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 13th Congressional District of New York. Carroll reported on results of a Local 802 political subcommittee survey pertaining to the 13th Congressional District of New York. Discussion held. Carroll reported on the music production tax credit legislation press event in Albany held earlier in the day. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to endorse the candidacy of Keith Wright for the United States House of Representatives from the 13th Congressional District of New York. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Carroll excused.
