‘Why we joined the union’

I am honored to be a new member of Local 802 as a professional fiddle player. I moved to New York City from Nashville to pursue my passion for music and performance. I graduated from Belmont University in 2012 with a bachelor of music in musical theatre. While there I studied with master fiddlers Buddy Spicher and Tammy Rogers King. My goal in moving to NYC was to pursue my dream of combining my love for the fiddle with my passion for musical theatre performance. Over the past three years I have worked diligently to make this dream a reality. I have played for parties, concerts and even for a short time as a subway busker. I have also performed regionally in several Actors Equity productions. I am now pleased to announce that I am joining Local 802 after being hired to play fiddle, mandolin and guitar onstage in Roundabout Theatre Company’s Off Broadway production of “The Robber Bridegroom.” I was recommended for the gig by a good friend and fellow union member, an accomplished guitarist with whom I once played a Hank Williams show in Flat Rock, North Carolina. I am excited to make my Local 802 debut in such an excellent and upbeat show that combines my various passions. I look forward to finding future opportunities to pursue my musical aspirations as a lifelong member of the union.
