TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:08 a.m. by President Gagliardi. Present: Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Brandford, Burridge, Cutler, Dougherty, Kruvand, Sharman, Suttmann, Assistant to the President Bond. Minutes from September 27, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from September 27, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Executive Board member Hyde present at 11:16.

President Gagliardi reported on his attendance at the meeting of the National Coordinating Committee of Multi-Employer Pension Plans in San Diego, CA on September 26-28, 2016. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on the possible settlement of a grievance with The Broadway League. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on a proposal from Broadway HD to capture Broadway shows for the purpose of streaming online. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on a proposal from Broadway HD to capture a performance of New York City Opera’s production of “Candide.” Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on preparations for negotiations with the Metropolitan Opera. Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on an update of the Local 802 401(k) investment policy. Discussion held. Olcott presented a request from the Bronx Arts Ensemble to utilize public service scales for an educational concert on October 24, 2016 at Fordham University. It was moved and seconded to approve the request from the Bronx Arts Ensemble. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on a member’s inquiry about the Buyers Edge shopping club. Discussion held. Olcott reported on negotiations between Local 802 and American Symphony Orchestra. Discussion held. Olcott reported on negotiations between Local 802 and New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on his appearance before the NLRB regarding an unfair labor practice charge brought by Local 802 against Jazz at Lincoln Center. Discussion held.

Schwartz presented requests from two members for leaves of absence from Broadway shows. It was moved and seconded to approve the requests for leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo presented the July financial report. Discussion held. Camiolo excused.

Schwartz reported on the submission of suggestions from members to rename the Local 802 referral service. Discussion held.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Carroll presented recommendations to the Executive Board for the endorsement of Anna Throne-Holst and Adriano Espaillat for the U.S. House of Representatives; John DiVito, Joe Addabbo and Liz Krueger for New York State Senate; and Yuh-Line Niou and Carmen De La Rosa for New York State Assembly. Carroll reported on an upcoming series of columns in the Allegro on copyright issues, to be written by guest columnist David Newhoff. Discussion held. Carroll excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the proposed political endorsements. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to contribute $250 to the campaign of Joe Addabbo. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Director of Organizing and Field Services Russell-Brown present. Russell-Brown presented an agreement between Local 802 and Old First Reformed Church to cover the church’s organist. Russell-Brown excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the agreement with the Old First Reformed Church. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:08 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Executive Board members Burridge, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Sharman, Suttmann. Sharman taking minutes. Minutes from October 4, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from October 4, 2016 as submitted. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on a meeting with Local 802 Counsel Mars to renegotiate the terms of his retainer for services to the local and proposed a $1,200 increase per month.  Executive Board member Brandford present 11:18. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve an increase in retainer for Local 802 Counsel Mars in the amount of $1,200 monthly for a total cost of $134,400 per year for a term of 3 years. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on nearly completed negotiations with American Symphony Orchestra. Olcott reported on the current ratification of Orchestra of St. Luke’s contract. Olcott reported on a request for a contribution to U.S. Labor Against the War.  Discussion held. Olcott presented a request from a member for a leave of absence from a Broadway show. It was moved and seconded to approve the request for the leave of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Contract Administrator Covo present. Covo reported on the Marion Evans Tribute event held in the Local 802 clubroom on September 27, 2016 and on contributions to the Emergency Relief Fund received at the event. Discussion held. Covo reported on the Music for a Sound Future event featuring woodwind doubling held in the Local 802 clubroom on September 21, 2016. Discussion held. Covo reported on the Local 802 Jazz Mentors program.  Covo excused.

Assistant to the President and Director of Lincoln Center & Theatre Activities Bond present. Bond presented a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Classic Stage Company, MCC Theatre, The New Group and Vineyard Theatre for their Off Broadway theatrical productions. Discussion held. Bond excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the Off Broadway theatre MOA. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Carroll presented a recommendation for a $250 campaign contribution for Carmen De La Rosa, a candidate for the New York State Assembly District 72. Discussion held. Carroll excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the $250 campaign contribution to Carmen De La Rosa to be paid from the Tempo State Fund. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on the investment policy for the Associated Musicians of Greater NY 401(k) plan effective November 1, 2016. It was moved and seconded to approve policy. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.
