“Why we joined the union’

I first joined the AFM as a student in Boston, where I was fortunate to sub with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops. After graduate work at the Manhattan School of Music, I joined Local 802 to sub on a Broadway show and was happy to join this group of exceptional musicians and take advantage of the many benefits the union provides us. My musical goal in NYC is to perform great music with the wealth of fine musicians working here. Because of its superb artists, NYC inspires us to draw on the talent and experience of our peers like nowhere else. Performing alongside the world-class musicians of Local 802 encourages me to grow artistically and it is a pleasure to call them colleagues and friends. One of my favorite recent gigs was performing as a member of the Radio City Orchestra for both the New York Spectacular and last year’s Christmas Spectacular, where I was fortunate to meet and work with many extraordinary musicians and fantastic people! My principal instrument is trumpet.
