‘Why we joined the union’

Adam Levowitz

I joined Local 802 because I am beginning to work as a Broadway producer and want to be a musician-friendly producer. I joined the union as a sign of solidarity. I created a show last year called “The Quentin Tarantino Soundtrack.” It’s a 90-minute roaring rampage of live music featuring the hit songs from “Reservoir Dogs,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Jackie Brown.” I wrote 25 new charts, hired a killer band and had a blast. I found some backers in D.C. and they wanted me to rebrand the show into The Adam Levowitz Orchestra and create more shows. I’ve got a “Blues Brothers” show that will also be playing in D.C. soon. I’d like to build the buzz down there and bring it back up to New York. I mainly compose and arrange but I also play keys and am a music director.
