HELPING YOU MAKE YOUR JOB BETTER
We're Local 802's Organizing Department, and we can help you make your job better.
Perhaps you're working a job with horrible pay, no benefits, and an abusive conductor or bandleader. Or maybe your job's good, but you wish it paid pension and health benefits. Or maybe everything's fine - but you're on pins and needles each gig, wondering if you're going to be called, and you really wish you had some job security.
That's when you and your fellow musicians can really make a difference - with our help. The Organizing Department's mission is to help turn nonunion jobs into union jobs. That's what "organizing" means - bringing people together to win the benefits of the union.
Organizing also means bringing nonunion musicians into the union fold. This increases the entire union's strength. As more musicians join our union, our bargaining leverage with all our employers increases dramatically.
If you decide that you want your gig to be union, give us a call. We'll sit down with you and explore your particular situation. Our expertise is strategy, and we will never go public unless you and your colleagues feel the time is right. Each situation is different, but the basic ingredient is unity. That means that people can win more improvements for themselves by working together than by acting alone. We can help develop a union campaign that works best for you and your fellow musicians.
So give us a call. And even if you're completely happy with your job, get to know us. Perhaps you know other musicians who want to organize.
The Organizing Department. Your future belongs to you. What can we do to help?
