
For the second year in a row, Local 802 has won first place in the country for its monthly newsletter Allegro (pictured above), which is read by professional musicians across NYC and beyond, as well as by many producers and employers. The union won for best labor electronic newsletter among local, state and regional unions.
The judging organization is the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA), the professional group of labor communicators, whose membership produces publications with a total circulation in the tens of millions dedicated to amplifying labor’s and workers’ voices around the world.
The union also won first place in its category for an animated social media post called “Now’s the Time” and also racked a social media win for its Valentine’s Day post (see below).

Allegro keeps members up to date on contract negotiations, local news, politics, and issues that affect their lives. The newsletter regularly shares valuable resources from open arts housing lotteries to information about executive board roles and the support they provide member and highlights the musical work and accomplishments of its members, showing that our union’s strength and community extend far beyond contracts.”
Local 802’s outreach span all platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Blue Sky, and YouTube, in addition to its website.
