NOV. 3, 2025 – AFM Local 802, the union representing Broadway musicians, has officially announced its new Broadway contract following ratification by an overwhelming majority “yes” vote of Broadway musicians.
The new three-year contract is retroactive to Sept. 1, 2025 and will remain in effect through Aug. 27, 2028.
Local 802 has released the following statement from LOCAL 802 PRESIDENT BOB SUTTMANN:
“After a hard-fought contract negotiation, Broadway musicians overwhelmingly ratified their new three-year contract, preserving industry-leading standards for the artists who power Broadway’s success. United in solidarity, Broadway musicians doubled down on their collective power with a 98% strike authorization vote. Ultimately, AFM Local 802’s Broadway musicians, together with the actors and stage managers of Actors’ Equity Association, have proven that organized labor remains a potent force on Broadway.”
Musicians had been working without a contract on Broadway since Aug. 31, 2025 and reached a tentative agreement on Oct. 23. Ratification of the contract ended at 5pm on Nov. 3.
AFM Local 802 represents thousands of highly skilled musicians who drive New York City’s thriving cultural and tourism economy. Its members — who perform on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Radio City, in recording studios, as teaching artists, on late-night TV shows and in other televised bands, in hotels, clubs, festivals and venues across NYC — are protected by collective bargaining agreements ensuring proper classification, fair treatment and a living wage.
