Bylaw Resolution

The following resolution will be submitted and voted on at the February membership meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. in the Local 802 Club Room, 322 West 48th Street, Ground Floor. (Admission by paid-up membership card only.)

RESOLUTION

(NOTE: In the following draft, language that will be removed from the the bylaw is struck through, like this. Proposed new language is underlined.)

Whereas: The intended purpose of Rule 15 of these bylaws included prohibiting members from simultaneously holding more than one Broadway show with only certain exceptions and,

Whereas: This prohibition’s application to musicians who might be hired on a “cut list” basis was not addressed in the bylaw language and,

Whereas: The language of the bylaw should clarify this situation,

Therefore be it resolved that Article IX, Subdivision 4, Rule 15, Section 2A, paragraphs 2 & 3 be amended as follows:

2.) That no leave shall be granted to a member of one Broadway show to play another Broadway show unless “run of the show” job security at one of the shows at the second show is clearly held by another musician, and such leave shall be only for the period of time necessary to engage a suitable non-roster musician, or for two weeks, whichever is shorter.

3.) That no exception to these policies shall be made based solely upon a musician’s status or potential status as Assistant or Associate Conductor, or Designated Contractor or “cut list” musician.

RESULTING LANGUAGE

2.) The Executive Board reports this resolution favorably.
