Meeting called to order at 11:08 AM. Present: President Gagliardi, Recording Vice President O’Connor, Executive Board members Babich, Burridge, Dougherty, Hyde, Roach, Olcott, Schwartz, Sharman, Assistant to the President Donovan. Blumenthal excused on vacation.

It was moved and seconded to approve the August 31 minutes as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported on his attendance at the recent meeting of the American Federation of Musicians and Employers Pension Fund (AFM-EPF) Trustees.

Gagliardi reported on the production of “Swan Lake” at City Center with taped music. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on the forthcoming Broadway show, “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.” Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor presented to the Executive Board charges brought by a Local 802 member against another Local 802 member. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to refer the charges to the Trial Board. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved and seconded to purchase an Exhibitors Lounge Package at the CMJ Conference in October for $3,500. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor reported on an invitation to attend a Labor Mass to be held on September 11. Discussion held.

Theater Committee Member Greg Thymius present. Thymius reported on a proposal to participate in the Steuben German-American Day Parade on September 25 with a float themed A Tribute to Broadway that would include 8 musicians paid according to the Public Service Parade scale. Discussion held. Thymius excused. It was moved and seconded to approve up to $1,200 from the public relations fund to the Counsel for Living Music to fund 8 musicians to play in the German Day Parade. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Thymius present. Discussion held. Thymius excused.

It was moved and seconded to concur with the minutes of the Coordinating Advisory Committee (CAC) from August 9. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board Member Hyde reported on activities of the Broadway Theater Committee Subcommittee on Communications and their discussions with members of Executive Board Public Relations Committee. Discussion held.

Public Relations and Political Director Molloy present. Molloy presented several primary election recommendations of New York state-wide candidates. Discussion held. Molloy excused. It was moved and seconded to endorse Steve Englebright, Denny Farrell, Linda Rosenthal and Dick Gottfried for the office of New York State Assembly in the September 14 primary. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved and seconded to endorse Tom Duane and Jose Serrano for the office of State Senate in the September 14 primary. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi appointed Executive Board members Hyde, Olcott and Roach to a Political Endorsement Committee.

Executive Board Member Roach excused. Molloy present. Molloy reported on the Future of Music Coalition Policy Summit. (See minutes from July 27.) Discussion held. Molloy distributed materials on possible “pop-up” display module for Local 802 exhibiting purposes. Molloy excused. It was moved and seconded to purchase an 8’ Echo Pop-up kit for $1,809.50. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved and seconded to purchase a one-half page ad in the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine cocktail reception journal for $350. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.
