Meeting called to order at 11:05 a.m. by President Gagliardi. Present: Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Dougherty, Garnett, Hyde, Namkung, Sharman, Suttmann. Minutes from September 26, 2017 reviewed. Executive Board member Burridge present at 11:08. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from September 26, 2017 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported on matters pertaining to “Rocktopia,” playing a five-week engagement at the Broadway Theatre. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported that he will meet with the producers of “Escape to Margaritaville the Musical” to address their request for a special situation. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on a request from the producers of “Spongebob Squarepants the Broadway Musical” to include 30-minute pre-heat performances by five members of the orchestra. Discussion held.

Gagliardi announced a negotiating session for a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement between Local 802 and New York City Ballet to take place this day, October 3, 2017. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported the signing of an extension to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Local 802 and New York Philharmonic through November 30, 2017. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on his meeting with the negotiating committee of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Discussion held.

Director of Organizing and Field Services Russell-Brown, Organizing Department Senior Business Reps Koshar and Paulina present. Russell-Brown, Koshar and Paulina presented an update on the Broadway Internal Organizing Initiative. Discussion held. Executive Board member Hyde excused at 12:30. Russell-Brown, Koshar and Paulina excused.

Gagliardi requested confirmation of an email poll of the Executive Board approving a $250 contribution to St. John Relief, Inc. It was moved and seconded to confirm the email poll. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Carroll requested a contribution to the election campaign of Justin Brannan for New York City Council from District 43. Carroll requested a contribution to the re-election campaign of Keith Powers for New York City Council from District 4. Carroll requested funding for members to perform at a rally prior to the New York City mayoral debate on October 10, 2017. Carroll excused. It was moved and seconded to contribute $500 to the re-election campaign of Keith Powers, funding to come from State and Local Tempo. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to contribute $1,000 to the election campaign of Justin Brannan, funding to come from State and Local Tempo. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to approve up to $785 for members to perform at a rally prior to the New York City mayoral debate on October 10, 2017. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported he would be attending the Collective Bargaining Agreement ratification vote of Orpheus on this day, October 3, 2017. Discussion held. Olcott reported on his planned attendance at an orchestra committee meeting of Bridgeport Symphony. Discussion held. Olcott reported on issues pertaining to Long Island Concert Orchestra. Discussion held. Olcott reported on matters pertaining to Westchester Philharmonic. Discussion held. Olcott reported on a request from New York City Gay Men’s Chorus to utilize excerpts of a recording in a live performance. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on Local 802’s actions to address a nonunion recording session for the artist Engelbert Humperdinck. Discussion held.

Schwartz presented requests from two members for leaves of absence from Broadway shows. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 1:14 p.m.
