To the Editor:
I’d like to offer some personal words of praise for outgoing 802 President Sara Cutler.
By the time Tino Gagliardi was elected President of the AFM in 2022, the Local 802 Executive Board had already persuaded Sara to complete Tino’s term as 802 President.
Sara never welcomed the idea of becoming President (an all-consuming and frequently thankless job). However, her many qualifications (including labor training at Cornell, a proactive tenure on the Executive Board, extensive orchestra committee experience and years as a health fund trustee), made her an obvious choice. In office, her reluctance was immediately replaced by discipline, enthusiasm and a formidable display of leadership skills.
Many thanks to Sara Cutler for her dedication and service to the musicians of New York City as President and Executive Director of Local 802.
