Local 802 Election of Officers Will Take Place on Dec. 5

Mail Ballots Must Be Received by that Date

Volume C, No. 12December, 2000

Local 802 received substantial numbers of requests for absentee mail ballots for the upcoming election of Local 802 officers. The ballots were sent out to everyone who satisfied the requirements established by the local’s bylaws and Department of Labor rules. Members who plan to vote by mail ballot are reminded that their completed ballots must be received in the Recording Vice-President’s office no later than Dec. 5, the date of the election.

Some requests for absentee ballots could not be honored because the request was received too late. However, every member who is eligible to vote and will not be sending in a mail ballot is encouraged to vote in person on Dec. 5. To be eligible, your annual membership dues for the third quarter must have been paid no later than Sept. 30, 2000, and you must have joined or re-entered Local 802 no later than June 30 of this year.

In-person voting will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 5, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. There will be two polling sites: at Local 802’s Manhattan headquarters (322 West 48th Street) and at the union’s Long Island office (55 Broadway, in Hicksville, N.Y.).

Please contact the Recording Vice-President’s office at (212) 245-4802, ext. 110, if you need further information about election procedures.
