‘Why we joined the union’
Volume 117, No. 12December, 2017
I joined Local 802 after retiring from the Army, where I served as a musician for almost 23 years. I relocated to New York City for a second career playing in pit orchestras as well as any other music I can get involved in. My most recent gig was a community theatre performance of “Hairspray” in South Carolina. (My wife was the musical director, so I was expected to play in the pit!). My principal instrument is bassoon, but I play all woodwinds.
