‘Why we joined the union’

Volume 118, No. 1January, 2018

I  rejoined Local 802 upon returning to NYC after living in Virginia for 12 years, six years of which I was teaching flute and chamber music at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. My musical goal in NYC is to build a flute studio and to work again with the greatest musicians in the world, as I did here for over three decades. I also compose, so I’m always arranging venues for my works. One of my most favorite recent gigs was playing in my church – the venerable Park Avenue Christian Church. Music is what my life revolves around; it is the very center of my life. I think about it constantly. My principal instruments are flute, piccolo and alto flute.
