‘Why we joined the union’

Volume 118, No. 5May, 2018

Richard Scott

I rejoined Local 802 to be to be a part of the NYC music scene and support fellow musicians. I was also encouraged to join because of the late guitarist Ronny Jordan, a fellow Local 802 member who was known as the father of acid jazz. My musical goal in New York City is to get my music composition and songwriting and studio work known. I’m a guitarist. One of my favorite recent gigs was playing at the Sugarloaf Music Festival, but most of my other recent work has been done at the Hits Lab Studio in Bayonne. I’m trained in music theory and have been playing jazz, R&B, blues and everything else for over 30 years. I recently finished an EP entitled “Dancing High.”
