‘Why we joined the union’

Volume 119, No. 8September, 2019

Andreas Häberlin

I JOINED LOCAL 802 because I am looking to further my music career in NYC by joining a growing community of like-minded professionals. Eventually, I am looking to make it as an orchestrator, arranger and copyist in NYC’s musical theatre scene. Together with my wife, who is a writer and performer, we produce our own original musicals. In 2018 we premiered “Ciao Bambino” (with a cast of 16) Off Off Broadway. My copyist credits include David Foster and the newest albums of Snarky Puppy (“Immigrance”), Barbra Streisand (“Walls”) and Michael Bublé (“Love”). Over the last 10 years, I have worked as a pianist, music director and guest entertainer in musical theatre, ballet, jazz and on cruise ships. I won a scholarship to attend Berklee, where I earned a master’s degree in film scoring. I am currently finalizing my book on music transcription method. Other work includes sound design (creation of synth presets) for AIR Music Technology and Waves Audio, which has endorsed me. I serve as the company pianist at Cobble Hill Ballet and participated in the Carnegie Hall Educator’s Workshop (2018-2019). –Andreas Häberlin, andreashaeberlinmusic@gmail.com
