AFCU Launches Rewards Card

Volume CII, No. 3March, 2002

Actors Federal Credit Union launched its ActorMiles MasterCard at the end of last year. The card allows members to earn credit toward free airline tickets with every purchase made.

The points earned – one for every dollar spent on purchases, excluding cash advances and balance transfers – can be exchanged for free airline tickets throughout the United States and much of Europe and Asia. “When setting up the ActorMiles program, we looked for a service provider that offered as few restrictions as possible, while maximizing the point rewards,” said AFCU Loan Manager Chris Duffy. “I am confident that our program does a great job of giving back to our members.”

Once members have reached the points required for their chosen trip, they can book it. It takes just 20,000 points to earn a trip within the contiguous 48 states or to Canada, 30,000 points will add the option of Mexico or the Caribbean, and 55,000 points will get you to Europe. Depending on the accumulated number of points, trips are also available to Alaska, Hawaii and Asia.

Program regulations are limited, since there are no blackout dates, no inconvenient vouchers and no airline affiliations, giving members flexibility in their travel options. Points earned may be redeemed for up to five years from the date they are earned.

The card’s credit limits range from $1,000 up to a maximum of $5,000 for qualified applicants. Interested members can apply at the AFCU loan department or online at www.actorsfcu.com. AFCU serves more than 14,000 members and has assets of over $62 million.
