On June 30, 2026, the Local 802 Executive Board passed a resolution with the following timeline for restarting the building project. This resolution can be found in the Executive Board minutes for this meeting here. One Executive Board member (Bove) was opposed.

Resolution Regarding Local 802’s Building

WHEREAS the renovation of the Union’s property located at 322 West 48th Street has been halted due to a series of unfortunate events, many of which have been beyond the Union’s control; and

WHEREAS, the Union has already invested more than $1.3 million toward the renovation project; and

WHEREAS, Local 802 plans to pursue securing a loan to allow it to renovate its building; and

WHEREAS, efforts are ongoing to establish a potential rental of the top three floors of the building; and

WHEREAS, Local 802 has not yet received either a firm written commitment for a loan with favorable terms or a rental; and

WHEREAS, the renovation project has been stalled for more than 18 months; and

WHEREAS, Article III, Section 9(d) of Local 802’s Bylaws requires membership approval of a sale of the building; and

WHEREAS, a determination regarding the future of the property must be made expeditiously.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that unless by December 31, 2026, substantial progress has been made towards:

1. Securing a commitment for a loan on terms acceptable to Local 802;
2. Securing a tenant to lease the top three floors of the property; and
3. Confirming with the Union’s real estate broker, owner’s representative, and independent auditors, after a thorough review, that the renovation project can be completed without impairing the Local’s financial position:

Local 802 shall commence marketing and offering the property for sale, consistent with Local 802’s Bylaws, and begin the search for a suitable permanent rental property for its future operations.
