Meeting called to order at 11:10 AM. Present: President Gagliardi, Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President O’Connor, Executive Board members Brandford, Burridge, Cutler, Dougherty, Kruvand, Roach, Sharman, Assistant to the President Boyle.

It was moved and seconded to approve the February 28 minutes as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported that New York City Opera has hired a nonunion band for its gala fundraiser.

Executive Board member Schwartz present at 11:13. Gagliardi reported on New York Philharmonic Extra and Substitute Musicians negotiations.

Gagliardi reported that the Paul Taylor Dance Company will be performing at the Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center with taped music and no musicians. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on Metropolitan Opera Staff negotiations.

Gagliardi reported on a Theatre Department issue. Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported that Gotham Chamber Opera and Little Orchestra Society have reached tentative agreements with Local 802.

Olcott reported on issues regarding Opera Orchestra of New York.

Recording Vice President O’Connor presented a request from Align of Greater New York (an organization formed in 2011 through the merger of New York Jobs with Justice and Urban Agenda) to contribute $305.49 toward the cost of hiring musicians (under Local 802 contract) for its Movement Builders Awards Ceremony, for which Align will provide Local 802 a full page ad in the event journal. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor reported on the launching of the redesigned Justice For Jazz Artists Web site. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on the leafleting by Local 802 musicians and staff of six jazz nightclubs on March 1 for the purpose of seeking collective bargaining. Discussion held.

Discussion held on the Broadway Leave of Absence policy.

Theatre Representative Friedman present. Friedman presented a proposed budget for 2012 NYMF and Fringe Festival outreach activities and events. Discussion held. Friedman excused. It was moved and seconded to approve a budget of $6,245 for NYMF and Fringe Festivals. Motion carried unanimously.

Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo gave a presentation on a new cash receipts system for Local 802 and past and present bookkeeping system and practices. Discussion held. Camiolo excused.

Discussion on Local 802 bookkeeping system and practices continued.

Meeting called to order at 11:10 AM. Present: President Gagliardi, Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President O’Connor, Executive Board members Burridge, Cutler, Dougherty, Roach, Schwartz, Assistant to the President Boyle.

It was moved and seconded to approve the March 6 minutes as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi presented a request from Tenants PAC for funds sufficient to hire a trio for their annual meeting on April 27. It was moved to grant the request, funds to be paid from TEMPO. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion held on Local 802 Bylaws regarding political contributions. It was moved and seconded to reconsider the previous motion. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion held on alcohol use policy in the Local 802 Club Room.

Gagliardi presented a thank you letter from Teamsters Local 814 for Local 802’s donation to assist locked-out Sotheby workers purchase health insurance.

Gagliardi presented a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Metropolitan Opera for the Musical Staff. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi presented a request from the Film Musicians Secondary Market Fund to help fund their participation in the ASCAP/Columbia Film School Scoring Workshop with a donation of $3,500. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi distributed a letter of request from AFM President Ray Hair for Local 802 to pay for Gagliardi’s expenses to attend the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) convention to be held in Beijing, China June 20 through June 26 as part of an AFM delegation. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request, funds to be requested from the Coordinating Advisory Committee (CAC). Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi presented a request for reimbursement for Local 802 delegates to the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) totaling $2,381.33. It was moved and seconded to grant the request, funds to be requested from the CAC. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a request from the Long Island Philharmonic Orchestra to use public service scales for two educational concerts in the remaining school year. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott presented a request from the Queens Symphony Orchestra to use public service scales for rehearsals and concerts taking place on April 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 27, 28 and 29 as part of a series that had been funded in past years by the Musicians Performance Trust Fund (MPTF). It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi presented an announcement from the United Hebrew Trades of its Annual Labor Seder. It was moved and seconded to donate $100 to the United Hebrew Trades. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott presented an MOA with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA.

Olcott gave a report on freelance symphonic wage rates for various orchestras. Discussion held.

Olcott presented a proposal for increasing Local 802 Public Service Scales. It was moved and seconded to increase the Public Service Scales as presented by the Financial Vice President. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Recording Vice President O’Connor presented a request from Symphony Space to use Public Service Scales for a rehearsal and two educational concerts on April 11, 12 and 14. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented a request from Executive Board Member Sharman to pay for fees and expenses for two Local 802 softball teams at a total cost of $2,700. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented an invoice for $11,500 from Local 802 public relations firm, Geto-DeMilly to pay for Facebook advertising for the Justice for Jazz Artists campaign. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to pay the invoice from the public relations budget. Motion carried. Roach opposed.

O’Connor presented an invoice of $7,797 from Geto-DeMilly to pay for redesign of the Justice for Jazz Artists Web site. It was moved and seconded to pay the invoice from the public relations budget. Motion carried. Roach opposed.

Theatre Representative Copeland present. Copeland presented an MOA with the City Club, LP for the production of City Club. Discussion held. Copeland excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA. Motion carried unanimously.

New York Recording Musicians Association members Roger Blanc and Shem Guiborry present. Blanc and Guibbory gave a presentation on the New York State tax credit law for films shot in New York and the need to promote the use of New York musicians in film production in New York. Discussion held.
