Membership Alerts

Volume CVI, No. 12December, 2006

Last month, we informed Allegro readers that 802 member Kermit Driscoll has very serious late-stage Lyme disease. Fellow musicians are organizing three benefits for him:

  • Dec. 13 at Barbes, 376 Ninth Street (at Sixth Avenue) in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Trumpeter Dave Douglas is the featured performer. For set times, call the venue at (718) 965-9177. For more information, contact Russ Johnson at RussJohnson@optonline.net.
  • Dec. 19 at Trumpets Jazz Club, 6 Depot Square in Montclair, N.J. This event features musicians from Diane Moser’s Composers Big Band; vocalists Dee McMillin and Jane Stuart; bassists Lindsey Horner, Mark Dresser and Sue Williams; drummers Gerry Hemingway and Rick DeKovesey; pianist Rave Tesar; and others. The music starts at 7:30 and runs until 11:30. For more information, call the venue at (973) 744-2600 or go to www.TrumpetsJazz.com.
  • The third event is still in the planning stage. It’s being organized by drummer John Hollenbeck and is scheduled for Jan. 29, with Bill Frisell as the featured performer.

Another way that Local 802 members can help is by making out a check to the Emergency Relief Fund and writing “Kermit Driscoll” in the memo line. Send checks to Bill Dennison, Local 802, 322 West 48th Street, New York, NY 10036. Contributions are tax deductible.
