LOCAL 802 MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
Local 802 AFM video conference membership meeting called to order at 5:15 P.M. by President Suttmann.
A quorum was achieved during the meeting at 5:15 P.M.
Roll Call of the Local 802 Officers by President Suttmann.
Present: President Suttmann, Financial Vice President Fisher, Recording Vice President Point, Executive Board Members Assael, Bove, Burridge, Cutler, DeRosa, Goodfriend-Koven, Haines, Hyde, Kainuma, Trial Board Members Axelrod, Herman, Korn, McSweeney, Odze, Seidner, Williams, and Yarbrough.
Introductory remarks by Suttmann regarding the ground rules and agenda for the meeting.
Suttmann introduced new chief of staff Rush Perez.
Suttmann introduced general counsel and parliamentarian Susan Davis.
Suttmann addressed a petition submitted on behalf of Harvey Mars.
Discussion held regarding the petition.
Suttmann addressed the postponement of previously scheduled bylaw amendment votes.
Discussion held regarding the postponement.
Suttmann, Member Haines, and Member Lyon gave an update on Broadway contract campaign.
Point reported on Broadway strike planning and implementation in conjunction with support from other union affiliates.
Suttmann and Cutler reported on the Local 802 building renovation project and conversations with the AFM.
Suttmann presented his President’s report that included an update on various Local 802 negotiations, the 2025 political election cycle and endorsements, and the loss of longtime Local 802 staff member Alex Blake.
Fisher presented her Financial Vice President’s report that included an update on Local 802’s finances, the membership department, a Hora Decima three-year contract, a NYGASP three-year contract, a one-year agreement with the Westchester Symphony, and ongoing negotiations with Little Orchestra Society and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Point reported on recently concluded negotiations with Big Apple Circus, Midori and Friends, and the John Engemann Theatre on Long Island. He also reported on ongoing negotiations with Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Hoff Barthleson Music School accompanists. He shared updates on the legislative victory for film scoring eligibility under the NYS Film Production Tax Credit, provided information on the upcoming AFM SRLA negotiations and survey, and spoke about the new Freelance Musicians Association steering committee.
