Musicians at work

Volume 114, No. 5May, 2014

When musicians are front and center, it’s better for everyone. Local 802 musicians were recently featured in costume and on stage for an Off Broadway revival of Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera” at the Atlantic Theater from March 12 to May 11. This setup was a welcome change from many shows where musicians are often hidden off stage – and even off site. Both audiences and critics appreciate it when they see the musicians themselves. The New York Times specifically noted that the show would have been even better if the musicians were more prominent. Pictured above (left to right) are Jeff Schiller, Jeff Nichols, Dave Roth, Fred Lassen (conductor), Dylan Schwab, Tim Albright and Nick DiFabbio. Not pictured is Gary Fagin (music director) and Michael Aarons (music coordinator). Photos by Walter Karling.
