Local 802 has reached an agreement with the School of American Ballet Orchestra. Performance wages jumped 34 percent and rehearsal wages increased 31 percent over the five years of the contract, which expires Dec. 31, 2012. In addition, the musicians gained an increase of 1 percentage point in pension in the last year of the contract, 2 percentage points raise in principal pay, and 1 percentage point in doubling premium. Cartage for large instruments and bass were each increased by $2 over the term of the contract. HPB contributions will increase by 53.3 percent over the five years. The musicians of the SAB orchestra were represented by Andrew Bove, Deb Spohneimer and Bohdan Hilash. Local 802 council Harvey Mars and Senior Concert Rep Karen Fisher led the negotiation.
