UNION STRONG: Local 802 kicks off the spring season with solidarity and strength
President's Report
Volume 126, No. 4April, 2026

Local 802 musicians hit high notes for justice and solidarity at this year’s No Kings March.
March has been a busy month for Local 802 as we make our way into the spring season. Several shows are soon opening on Broadway and the Local is in negotiations on several contracts including Roundabout Theater Company in advance of the April opening of “The Rocky Horror Show.”
As we look ahead to the summer, the Executive Board is actively engaged in its strategic planning process while we explore all available options for the union with respect to our still-unoccupied headquarters at 322 West 48th Street. At the time of publication we still do not definitively know where things will land regarding our building, but Local 802 leadership is actively working to evaluate all options and present a fiscally sound path forward for our members.
I am happy to report that the union is on strong financial footing as reported by our LM2’s, thanks in no small part to the leadership of Financial Vice President Karen Fisher and our Finance Department.
While this month’s update is more brief than usual, I want to shed light on a very powerful moment for our union this weekend: the third No Kings March, which took place on Saturday, March 28th.
More than 30 Local 802 musicians marched together at the front of the parade, starting at 57th and Broadway going down through Times Square. Spirits were high and the streets were crowded – far more so than even on New Years Eve. We thank all the members of the band who volunteered their time to lead the march with joy together with dozens of other labor unions and community groups from across the city.
Finally, as mentioned last month, we are very excited to announce that the Local 802 Pride Committee has begun work planning for participation in the 2026 Pride March. The local last participated in the Pride March in 2021 at the height of the pandemic through its digital version. As we continue the outreach and organizing process, we hope that you will mark your calendars for Sunday, June 28 and attend for what will undoubtedly be a very fun afternoon.
