An extraordinary group of jazz artists will perform at this benefit at the Apollo Theatre, hosted by Bill Cosby. A preliminary listing included Junior Mance, Cassandra Wilson, Ron Carter, Ahmad Jamal, Phil Woods, Billy Hart, Clark Terry, Max Roach, Irene Reid, Slide Hampton, Louis Hayes, Nnenna Freelon, Ben Riley, Charles Davis, Roy Haynes, Earl May, Lou Donaldson, Percy Heath, George Coleman, Tommy Flanagan, Frank Foster, Etta James, Jimmy Owens, Howard Johnson, Cecil Payne, Melba Joyce, Benny Powell and Melvin Sparks. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
