A tribute to Tom Bellino

Thomas John Bellino, 73, a multi-instrumentalist and a member of Local 802 since 1999, died on Feb. 19, 2025 after complications following surgery.
Mr. Bellino was born and raised in the Bronx and attended Power Memorial High School in Manhattan, playing clarinet in the school band. He attended Berklee College of Music for composition and performance. While in Boston, he studied piano with famed instructor Madame Charloff.
After moving back to New York City, Tom worked for various nonprofit music organizations and played saxophone and flute in the Gretchen Langheld Ensemble. He eventually started his own nonprofit organization called Planet Arts that produced albums with various artists, including the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. After moving to upstate New York, he produced jazz concerts in local venues. His relentless pursuit of spreading music workshops and performances led him to Europe and North Africa.
For the last ten years, Tom was living in Massachusetts, where he played alto and tenor sax in various bands. He lived life richly and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He was blessed with family and friends who loved his gentle demeanor, kindness and wit. He will be sorely missed.
Tom’s parents were Margaret (Cuomo) Bellino and Angelo Bellino and his older brother was Anthony Bellino. All have predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Terry Lamacchia as well as extended family & numerous friends
