Tony Corbiscello Signs Club Date Contract

Volume C, No. 7/8July, 2000

Tony Corbiscello, a Local 802 member and president of Tony Corbiscello Music Productions, is the latest employer to sign the Single Engagement Club Date Contract. Under terms negotiated on June 14, he will begin making health and pension contributions on Jan. 1, 2001, but will sign the agreement on July 1, 2000, abiding by all other terms and conditions of the contract.

The agreement came on the heels of Local 802’s successful area standards organizing efforts with Starlight Orchestras and New York City Swing. Corbiscello told Allegro, “I am happy to be in the position of providing health and pension benefits to the finest musicians I know.”

The acclaimed Tony Corbiscello Big Band has been growing in popularity recently, performing on its own and with such name acts as Joni James, Frank Sinatra, John Pizzarelli, Jerry Vale and Rosemary Clooney. Corbiscello’s band has also performed at the Rainbow Room, Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Westbury Music Fair, several major jazz festivals, the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, for the Democratic National Committee and Vice President Al Gore, at corporate events, benefits, weddings and private parties. The band has a new CD out, “In Full Swing,” featuring Bucky Pizzarelli.

“If you look at the bios of my roster of musicians, you’ll see musicians who have worked with everyone from Maynard Ferguson to Count Basie to the Broadway pits,” Corbiscello said. “They’re an incredible group of professionals who deserve the benefits of a union contract.”
