I joined Local 802 because I am pursuing more and more professional opportunities. For instance, I recently had the chance to play with the New York Philharmonic. I auditioned for the New York Philharmonic Global Academy last year and was chosen as one of the 10 winners. It was absolutely amazing. I was very touched. Everyone in the orchestra was so nice, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget the experience. I started playing the violin when I was 4. I studied first at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts before applying to Juilliard. Now I’m the concertmaster of both the Juilliard School Orchestra as well as the Juilliard Lab Orchestra. I am also a substitute violinist at the New World Symphony and the Symphony in C. I don’t think I could ever live without music. Although practicing is tough, music brings me to another world. When I’m stressed or depressed, I feel much better after playing music or listening to music. My ultimate goal is to share my music with everyone. I believe that music is a universal language and can help bring people together.
