‘Why we joined the union’

Volume 118, No. 7July, 2018

I re-joined Local 802 to gig as much as possible and to make as many recordings as possible. I came to NYC in 1981, and have been blessed to have played in many great ensembles throughout my career. I feel like I’m hitting my stride now. I’m a keyboardist, and have been recently playing with the Fopps, a tribute to the era of 1960s psychedelic/garage rock. This group has turned into the tightest and sharpest ensemble I’ve ever been blessed to be part of – it’s transcendent. I also play in the Bart Warren Group, the Gravity Dogs and Jesse Thomas & the Gin Mill Kings. Music makes me realize that the dance of the universe is divine – and that music is an attempt to grab the heartbeat.
